LYNDON - Most people would be upset that it's been a "slow season" for their business. However, for one local organization, having a "slow season" is a good thing.
LYNDON- Vermont is ranked eleventh in the country for highest number of smokers, with 19% of residents having the habit. The decision to quit may be tough but a local program called 802 Quits is there to help residents deal with the struggle.
LYNDON- Fishing season has finally come and that means it's time to stock streams and rivers. The Bald Fish Hatchery worked hard today in an annual event of stocking waterways with fish.
LYNDON- Volunteering requires devotion and dedication. Miranda Martin, a Senior at Lyndon Institute, finds a way to set aside time to help her community, all while juggling classes, homework, and the "typical" teenage life. This busy student has recently been recognized for her devotion.
LYNDON- The 2014 election season kicked off on Sunday at Lyndon Institute's Cafeteria.Many politicians were in Lyndon like Democrat Speaker of the House, Shap Smith, who said he had bills that he would love to see get passed in the heart of the capitol in the last two weeks of this legislative session
LYNDON- The town of Lyndon had recently recieved a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to upgrade their Waste Water Treatment plant. More upgrades still need to be done and Lyndon recieved another grant from the USDA as a second part of the upgrade.
LYNDON- Many family members and children that went to St. Johnsbury Easter egg hunt went to Band Stand Park for another egg hunt in Lyndon, too. At 1 p.m. Saturday, parents watched their children gather as many easter eggs as they could find under the gloomy skies.
LYNDON - United States Senator Bernie Sanders made a stop in the Northeast Kingdom last night to discuss sustainability in the United States, and what he is doing to help improve it. There has also been speculation that he may run for president in the 2016 election.
LYNDONVILLE- With the snow melting and rain showers the Northeast Kingdom keep getting, the Passumpsic River Valley is under a flood warning with towns in our area feeling the effects.
LYNDON- Local business owners came to the Lyndonville trustee meeting last night to voice their concerns about the increase they are seeing in their water bills. Many people are not happy about the increase.

LYNDONVILLE - Police are investigating a reported mugging that occurred Friday night on Williams street. According to Chief Jack Harris, a woman said that as she was walking by a silver car in a parking lot, an African-American male jumped out of the rear-driver's side and grabbed her by the shoulders.
LYNDONVILLE- The long winter, poverty, and lack of jobs are three daunting struggles in the Northeast Kingdom. Together, those factors leave locals from all over the Northeast Kingdom attempting to pay their bills and provide their families.
LYNDONVILLE- The Northeast Kingdom got a look at a different culture, the Drum Tao a Japanese inspired drum and dance ensemble made there way from Japan to the Northeast Kingdom.
LYNDON- Lyndon town school held a meeting last night to discuss parents concerns on how the school is handling it's changes in the dress code. Many parents were upset with the way the school handled the situation.

LYNDON- Lyndon State College hosted a benefit concert for junior and local band member Jake Gregg who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia last spring. Since then he's undergone several surgeries and the local community is continuing to rally behind him.
LYNDONVILLE - A weekend dodgeball tournament has raised new funds to improve a recently flooded St. Johnsbury gym. Kingdom Gymnastics, located inside the Green Mountain Mall on Memorial Drive, was flooded in early February from two ruptured water mains.
LYNDON - The Quimby Gallery has presented a new artist, Hannah Frigon, a current student at Lyndon State College. Frigon's show is called Coexisting Beauties. The name came from Frigon's desire of both nature and being to be able to stand side by side, and to not have one over-power the other.
LYNDONVILLE- A multi-alarm fire broke out on 55 Speedwell Drive this morning in Lyndonville. The call came in just before 8:00 am.
LYNDONVILLE- The Kennametal plant in Lyndonville sent out a statement earlier this week confirming the decision of closing the facility for good on June 30, 2014.
LYNDON - Helping Other People Everyday, otherwise known as H.O.P.E., is a small business sitting on the corner of Depot Street in Downtown Lyndon. However, this small business has started numerous programs that show their huge passion for helping out the community.

LYNDONVILLE- The winter parking ban and the waste removal system in town were the big topics of discussion during Lyndon's select board meeting on Monday night. The select board is looking into soultions that could help solve these impending problems.
LYNDONVILLE - The Boys & Girls Club of America will soon have a home in the Northeast Kingdom. Over the weekend, the club held a Casino Night event at Lyndon State College's ASAC 100 conference hall.
Lyndon - Vermont's Special Olympics Basketball Team from Saint Albans practiced at Lyndon State College this weekend to get ready for the National Special Olympic Games in Princeton, New Jersey this summer.

LYNDONVILLE - Three Lyndon State basketball players have been charged with disorderly conduct stemming from a March 11th incident that took place on the college's campus.
