Bed Bugs in St. Johnsbury

BED BUGSST. JOHNSBURY- The apartments on the corner of Railroad Street and Eastern Avenue are infested with bed bugs. News7 reporter Tyler Dumont talked to Norma and William Heath who have reported the problem.

The Heaths said that this has been an issue in their apartment for over a year. They have tried to correct the provlem, going as far as hanging canvasses from their ceilings to catch the bed bugs.
Norma said that they were everywhere in the apartment and were "all over our ceilings, dropping on the floor, in your food, in your coffee".
The Heaths have contacted the landlord who lives in Massachusetts and after nothing changed, filed a lawsuit against him. The Heaths also contacted the building manager who claimed it was a "non-emergency".
The building's manager, Herb Berezin, told News7 he had paid thousands of dollars to fight the bed bugs and that it's the tenants that are bringing them in. He also went on to say this is not a new issue and that bed bugs have been reported in the downtown apartments since 2008.
The Vermont State Housing Authority is sending a specially trained K-9 that will be combing over the apartments to look for the bed bugs next week.
