Due to many operational challenges, St.Johnsbury's Planned Parenthood is closing July of 2025

Planned Parenthood of New England announced this closure last week. They explained that this due to the summer flooding and health care costs.

This past summer, St. Johnsbury experienced immense flooding. This not only affected the building but also business. They had to tend to the countless damages in and around their building. But flooding is not the only cause of this closure

Health care costs have gone up in recent years, especially for sexual and reproductive care. This has made it more difficult for Planned Parenthood to get access to what they need in a budget freindly way. While health care costs have increased, insurance reimbursment rates have not moved from their already low rate. Without adaquate reimbursment, it became increasingly more difficult to provide their services to the cummunity.
