LYNDONVILLE-- Lyndonville power has been restored after a car accident took place early Saturday morning.
Vermont State Police said 23-year-old Joseph Gollotto drove into a utility pole in front of McDonald's on Route 5 around 12:30 A.M. The crash caused numerous businesses and residents to lose power up until the next day.
Police said alcohol was a factor and Gollotto was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).
Vermont law states that when a person's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is 0.08% or above, he or she is "under the influence" or "impaired." People under age of 21 with a BAC of 0.02% or more can receive a civil traffic violation.
Gollotto refused to provide a roadside breath sample and is set to appear in court on Nov. 17.
We would also like to mention that Gollotto is a News7 student meteorologist.
