BURKE - Construction has been moving quickly for the Q Burke Resort, and is even ahead of schedule, after breaking ground at the site this summer. PeakCM President, Jerry Davis, says that they are in the first phase of the EB-5 Project, which consists of four different projects.
EB-5 is a program that project developers can use in order to raise money. Developers ask foreign investors to provide one million dollars, collect the money from each investor, and put it into a new business that creates a job for ten United States Workers, for every one million dollars invested.
Crews began pouring concrete, as well as starting site work, in the beginning of July.
"The concrete went fantastic, better than expected, and that's one of the reasons why we are still ahead of schedule," Davis said.
Not only does the EB-5 Project administer jobs to people in the area, but Davis says it offers more amenities and facilities to the community. The new resort will include indoor tennis courts, an aquatic center, a restaurant, and even a state of the art hotel.
This hotel will have 116 bedrooms and is expected to bring not only skiiers and riders, but anyone looking for a getaway. The new hotel will allow tourists to come to Burke Moutain and stay for a whole weekend without having to worry about travelling everyday and driving in cold, hazardous conditons. This initial project is just the first phase of many; other hotels are already in the works, but those projects are a long way down the road.
Davis added, "This hotel here, which is about a 55 million dollar hotel will have a conference center, and also a base lodge for Mid-Burke."
If the project continues to stay on track, the Q Burke Hotel will be up and running in December of 2015.
