St. Johnsbury Town Report

St. Johnsbury’s Town Meeting is coming up on March 3rd, voters are to show up at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center between the times of 8:00am and 7:00pm.

Property taxes are to increase outside the special service zone by almost 6% due to the oncoming expenses for this year.

One of these expenses include a roughly 8 percent higher per pupil spending for the St. Johnsbury school district.

There are no major changes expected within many of the electable positions, with many popular incumbents on the ballot.

However, on the school board, there are 3 seats up for election with only 2 of the incumbents submitting a petition to appear.

That’s because the third seat holder, Joseph Achillies, has indicated he was not interested in running for another term. And currently there is an expected vacancy for his seat.

Reminder that there is an informational meeting held for both the school district and the town, on March 2nd at 7pm in the St. Johnsbury School theater.

It may also serve as an opportunity for the public to learn more about the recent water pipe issues, and how the proposed budget may address future situations.
