historysnewhomeST. JOHNSBURY - The Saint Johnsbury History and Heritage Center is making big strides in their goal to bring a museum to reality.

The group has chosen the armory in St. Johnsbury as the location for their long awaited museum.

Members of the Saint Johnsbury History and Heritage Center have been dedicating their time toward finding a location and raising money for a museum that would be dedicated to the town. The History and Heritage Center has been looking at the armory, and St. Johnsbury town officials recently approved the lease for the armory. Director of the History and Heritage Center, Peggy Pearl, has spent countless hours working to make this dream a reality.

"We hope to expand… and get the collections that have been hiding out to the public, so they can become engaged in them…. we look for it to be a destination not only for St.Johnsbury (residents) but for visitors as well," Pearl said.

Though the center now has a place to house their artifacts, they still need to raise $500,000 to renovate the armory. The group will be working on getting more grants, and doing more fundraising to help raise the funds.
