SAINT JOHNSBURY - This weekend the Salvation Army store in Saint Johnsbury gave back.
With winter like temperatures approaching the northeast kingdom, Bob Morey of Green Mountain Power is keeping people warm by giving out coats.
This weekend the store gave out coats to anyone who came by "this is our tenth year and it's just a tremendous response from the community through some donations and people came in a take coats that need them, its a real good feeling" said Morey.
The drive is held in memory of Paul Sweeney who was a CVPS worker and a Danville Resident that passed away in 2003 just a month after the first coat drive. His wife Phyllis Sweeney is glad to see the drive still going in his memory "they make use of everything in his memory which is important to me and i'm glad they let me continue to be a part of it."
Sweeney estimates the drive has collected over five thousand coats over the ten year span while working with numerous sponsors.
