Sheffield Church Hosts Traditional Dinner

chickendinnerSHEFFEILD- Last night friends and family gathered around the dinner table for a traditional chicken pie dinner. The Sheffield Ladies Aid from the Federated Church have been putting this event for over 70 years. Kathy Newland a member of the ladies aid says, "Some of the ladies have been here a long, long time. I've been here 40 years."

The money that is raised at the dinner is put towards sending local children to camp. Newland says, "a lot of it goes to children who can't afford to go to the river of life camp in the summertime, it's a church-based camp in Irasburg."

But the dinner isn't just about raising money, it's a time where people can gather and share a memory around the dinner table. "It's good to see your neighbors which we don't always see on a regular basis so it's a good time to get together and catch up" Newland says.

She adds that it's a great community event that people have been coming to for many years. And the church plans to continue raising money and gathering for dinner for years to come.
