Roof Reconstruction

roofLYNDONVILLE - The Lyndonville Municipal building is in the beginning stages of some construction. The town has been anticipating the need for it, and have been preparing to take on the project.

Construction on the roof in the back of the building has now reached its fourth day. The south-side of the building required the majority of work because it reached it's age limit, and started to leak in certain spots that ran into the stairwell.

Prior to current construction, the town had already replaced other parts of the roof. Each budget season the town has put away money, so that every few years they can replace a new side of the roof. The town was aware that replacing more of the roof would eventually be of need.

Justin Smith, the Municipal Administrator said, "It was a necessary fix, but it was something we already adressed through the planning of our budget."

Smith said crews started the project last Friday, where they began preparing for the project by working on their set-up to make sure things were ready to start taking the shingles off this Monday. Smith said that weather has caused some set-backs in the completion of the project, due to the safety of workers being on the scaffolding in the rain, but they hope to be done by tomorrow.

After this section of roofing is redone, the town is planning on fixing the roof over their recycling room.
