LYNDONVILLE - September is Hunger Action month, a campaign to bring attention to hunger in America. One local organization that sees that issue firsthand is the Lyndon Area Food Shelf.
Being one of many in the area, the Lyndon Area Food Shelf has always assisted those who are hungry in the community. However, for the time being, their food stock has been low. While they do expect an increase as fall and winter approach, it is key that the community steps in to help.
Debbie Minor, Chairman for the food shelf says that "Donations are always welcome. I can take frozen food, I can take eggs. I have two freezers on sight plus one off sight, and everything and anything anybody wants to donate to me, it's a blessing."
When asked about how more awareness could be raised for the cause Minor said "make [people] aware when [they] go into a grocery storeā¦'get an extra few items for your food shelf', and then bring them to me or if the stores want to collect that's fine too."
The Lyndon Area Food Shelf is always taking donations and is open on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. and for any questions their phone number is 802-626-5586
