The former headmaster at Lyndon Institute, Rick Hilton had offically retired in June, which meant that the Vikings had to fill a cruical role in their education system.

Many students are excited to see a new face. Jacquie Kelly, a junior at LI, can't wait to learn more about him. "He's a really great guy. I really hope he gets to know his students more and really understands the school more."

Houck believes that he can create positive energy for the Institution. He understands the challenges of becoming a headmaster at such a prestigious school in a rural area.

"There's a declining enrollment. Of course in Vermont, it's shrinking. It's the fastest, shrinking state as far as the number of school aged children in the United States." Houck says.

However, Houck is ready for new challenges. It's the beginning of a new journey. He is looking forward to supporting the students at Lyndon Institute for many years to come.
