Business For Libbey's Meat

libbeys meatsLYNDONVILLE- The town of Lyndon welcomed a new meat market late last year, Libbey's Meat Market opened on December 19th and since then has seen a boom in business.

The small family owned business can be found just down the street from the Lyndon Town School and owner of the market, Jim Libbey, says there's been a great support from the locals, "Business has been fantastic... and we had a tremendous push from local people."

And while the locals are giving their support to the business, the owners are satisfied to be making people happy everyday.
Libbey and his wife, Sue, came to the decision of opening their own business as a way to remain in the food industry after many years of experience. The couple has over 50 years of combined experience in customer service and food services. The market offers beef, pork, poultry, and Maine lobster. The Libbey family packages their own sausages and other meats right in house. Some of the equipment used at Libbey's Meat Market were used in former meat market, Kingdom Meats, in St. Johnsbury.

Shortly after Kingdom Meats closed their business last year, Libbey's Meat had opened up.
In the future, the family hopes to be able to make their own soups and sauces, as well as getting more local meats. Pleased with how business is going, Libbey does not plan on opening other markets in the area as he has a vision of his own, "My mindset and my business plan going in-- is about staying small and controllable. So, we can consistently offer the high level of service with the high quality of product."
Libbey's Meat Market is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
