Get to Know Your Local Brewer

coveredbridgebrewingLYNDONVILLE- Curt Cuccia is a Vermont native who specializes in brewing small batch beers with original recipes at the Covered Bridge Craft Brewery. Cuccia delivers his draft-only beer, "Lucky Me", to bars and restaurants across the state.

He can be found on Sleepy Hollow Lane located behind the Lyndon Village, where all the experimenting takes place. When talking about the brewery Cuccia explained, "Usually I come up with ideas somewhere else then I come here and rehash them".

There isn't much time for fun and games during the brewing process, and Curt's wife, Nicki Cuccia understands that.

"I try not to come down here when he's brewing," she says, "if he's mashing in you don't want to disrupt that or anything."

"I like to come back here, turn the music up, and just kind of do my own thing and not be bothered," Curt explained.

Lucky Me is the most notable beer at the Covered Bridge Craft Brewery and is considered the "result of a one-night stand between a blonde and a pale ale." The beer is a medium-bodied, unfiltered malt blend mixed with a pine and citrus aroma. Curt also enjoys making maple beer as well. Originating from his cousins sugar bush, the beverage is made with pure maple sap and contains no water. This particular brew cant be found in resturants.

Curt believes creativity is essential in making beer, and that his family may have had an influence. His mother loved to cook, coming up with various food recipes, and creating her own salad dressings. When translating that to his own line of work, Curt mentioned that coming up with ideas and flavor profiles and being able to put it all together is what satisfies him.
