Lyndon Construction Affects Water Lines

constructionLYNDON- "Conservatively we should be good for about 50-60 years," Dan Hilll said, regarding new construction projects in Lyndon.

Lyndon has just started phase one and that should be completed in about a month.

"What we're replacing in many cases are water lines that are at least 100 years old," Hill said. "And when we finish the second phase of this, this summer through Depot Street and up Main Street, the whole downtown will all be redone and we won't have any pipes in the ground that are over 15 years (old)."

Some of these repairs are causing some slight inconveniences for the morning commute and regimen for locals. "I get up go to take a shower, get in the shower, water turns on then it just turns off half way through after I put my shampoo in, gotta go to work with shampoo in my hair," said Charles Street resident Ariel Lay.

This was due to a mistake causing the water to be shut off during construction "By mistake we broke a live line so we had to shut the water off for three to four hours, which wasn't planned. But we put it back together and everything's fine," said Hill. Hill has also stated that in the future, residents will be notified when water needs to be shut off.

During phase two, this could cause a lot of issues because of so many businesses on Depot and Main Street that require water to run their businesses.
