LYNDON - The American Red Cross made a stop in the Northeast Kingdom yesterday in their never-ending fight to save lives. The American Red Cross ran a blood drive at the Lyndon Town school yesterday from noon until 5 pm. The Town School hosted their second American Red Cross Blood Drive, and plans to do more in the future.
Lyndon Town School Nurse Vickie Jenkins says that this years drive was a bit slower than last years, but was still successful in raising over 45 pints of blood. Nancy Rivet, a para-educator at the school, participated in the blood drive, but says this is far from her first time doing so. "I grew up for the most part in Lexington, Massachusetts, and the Red Cross came to the high school, and I had an opportunity to give it a try. I had just turned 18... or maybe 17 with my parents permission I don't remember, and I decided to try it and I was accepted. They took my blood, and it started from there."
The Lyndon Town School plans to host American Red Cross blood drives annually from here in out.
