LYNDON - Teresa Vasko holds origami classes every Thursday at the Cobleigh Library. This week's class focused on Christmas folds - Santa Claus, Christmas ornaments, and similar projects - but other weeks feature cranes, stars and other fun folds.
Vasko says she'll teach the class "as long as my mind and my hands work." A retired math teacher, Vasko spent thirty years in the school system. Even in retirement, she found a way to continue to teach. Vasko said that her background as a math teacher may have something to do with her decision to teach the origami class.
"Even before I was a teacher I liked mathematical things," Vasko said. "[Origami] is quite mathematical if you look at a set of directions."
This particular origami class has been in existence for five years. Some of her students have stuck with her for the entire five years; others have joined recently. Though Vasko was forced to take time off last winter due to injury, the class has continued, and Vasko enjoys taking time out of her schedule to teach the class.
"I just love it," she said. "I really do."
