Classical Concert in Lyndonville

BassoonLYNDON - On their first of two stops in the Northeast Kingdom, Heliand Consort performed at Lyndon Institute Thursday evening.

Currently on their sixth season, Heliand Consort is traveling across Vermont for the Winds Take Flight Tour. Heliand Consort consists of an oboist, a clarinetist and a bassoonist. They perform a variety of new world, classical and French masterpieces.

Rachael Elliot, a bassoonist in the group, was excited to have the opportunity to play at the high school she graduated from. She was also excited to spread the group's message.

"Our mission has been to try and get out into new areas throughout the state and keep trying to get into new towns each year if possible," Elliot said. "[We] try to bring music where we think there is not as much live classical music so we are meeting communities that may not have as much access as those in Burlington do."

The Winds Take Flight Tour ends October 29th, but Heliand Consort continues its performances throughout the fall and winter.
