LYNDON- The town of Lyndon has agreed to repairs on the roof of the Town Hall. Plans are now being looked at to permanently fix the leaky roof. The repairs are estimated to cost about $2,500 out of the towns budget, but officials will be evaluating three different quotes.
After viewing all options, Lyndon will decide on the one that will be most beneficial to the town.
In addition to this building being the Town Hall, it is also leased by Lyndon Institute. The Institute uses the building as a classroom, which is another reason for them to find a permanent fix, according to Select Board Member, Justin Smith.
"The small addition that is off that is the bathroom facility for that classroom. So we want to make sure that we get that repaired so we aren't leading to any mold issues. And other things that could potentially cause health issues down the road."
The town has made many temporary fixes on this roof before, but now believe a permanent fix is what needs to be done. Officials claim that the roof should be fixed-for good this time, before the heavy snow begins to fall.
This is not the only town hall in the area with roof problems. Wheelock's Town Hall is also in need of roof repairs that may cost as much as $100,000 to fix, in addition to some electrical repairs.
