Ride Along Rescue

lyndon rescuepsdLYNDON- Some organizations are required to request money through the form of appropriations in order to operate, and Lyndon Rescue is one of them.   Though many people don't know exactly what they do, and how they do it, they still have a profound impact on the community.

"We have to be everywhere all the time," said Jamie Emery. "[It's] the best way I can describe it because we can be."

When dealing with life or death, not only must Lyndon Rescue know what to do, but they must also do it as a team.

"We like to get together and do a lot," said Danny Bigelow. "This is a big family; we try to do a lot of things together."

Lyndon Rescue was first formed in 1972 and officially became a full-time ambulance service in 1996. They have two stations in the Northeast Kingdom; one in Lyndonville and the other in Brighton.

Now although they deal with many difficult situations, EMT's at Lyndon Rescue also get to experience the rewards that come with the job.

"To be able to talk to a person that you know when you got there you know they were dead and to bring them back and talk to them," said Bigelow. "It's pretty intense."

Every day is different for those working Lyndon Rescue, but at the end of the day, there here to serve the community.

"You definitely need to be selfless to be in EMS," said Emery. "When you get on that scene and you see these people most likely the worst places they've been, you ned to turn off your problems and be empathetic for theirs."
