LYNDONVILLE- Everyday landfills across the country become more full because not everyone knows how to recycle hazardous waste. The Northeast Kingdom Waste Management has some advice for those people.
They collect hazardous waste and other products such as paper and plastic from households and dispose of it properly.
The NEKWMD holds many events throughout the year to help promote awareness of recycling waste. "We struggle with that," said Tomasi, "trying to find out what the best means of disseminating the information."
Tomasi also explained that people are flushing leftover pharmaceutical medications down the toilet, which then gets into the fresh water system. The NEKWMD would rather have people bring their hazardous waste to their facility, so they can either recycle or dispose it in a way that doesn't damage the environment.
Below Tomasi starts off the story of how the NEKWMD helps the environment.
