Campaign Finance Reports

general electionsNORTHEAST KINGDOM - Vermont election season is in full swing and the last few campaign finance reports are being filed.

October 15th was the latest deadline for State Representative candidates to submit their finance reports to the Secretary of State's office.

Each candidate running for statewide, legislative, and county offices that spend $500 or more in an election cycle must register and file campaign finance reports.

Before the latest deadline, five other reports needed to be filed. There are three remaining; two being after elections are over.

These reports need to be filed because of contribution limits that are set in place. Each candidate can accept $2,000 from a single source and $6,000 from a political committee.

All four candidates running in Caledonia district three for State Representative met the filing deadline for October 15th.

Incumbent Bob South has raised $1,015 for this reporting period. The reporting started October 1st and ended October 15th.

According to the contribution and expenditure summary he has raised $2,465 to date. Representative South has only used $499.00 this period. The money was used for stamps, labels and a fundraiser.

Another incumbent, Michelle Fay, has raised much more than Bob South. She has raised $3,315 for this period alone, and to date $6,609.90.

Representative Fay has spent $416.83 this period for Facebook advertising, yard signs, and postage.

Republican Scott Beck is also running for one of the two State Representative spots. As of right now he has raised the most money to date, bringing in $6,585.40. However, during this reporting period he has only raised $400. This period Beck only dished out $648.45, for office supplies, postcards and decals.

The last candidate looking for a seat is Janssen Willhoit. He has raised almost as much as he has spent in this election.

The numbers that follow are for his report as of October 1st. As of the first he has raised $4,267.46 and has spent $3,889.09. For this period he spent $1,231.55 on flyers and postage.
