Vear Qualifies for USASA Nationals

avearSt. Johnsbury- St. Johnsbury Academy junior, William Vear, 17, will be headed to Colorado one week from today, to participate in the 2014 U.S.A. Snowboard Association National Championships.

The competition will go on from March 29th through April 8th at Copper Mountian. Vear will be competing in both slope style and rail jam on April 2nd.

A broken wrist kept the young snowboarder out of the competition after he qualified last year. This year he placed eighth out of 335 in the rail jam, and 11th out of 179 in slopestyle.

This will be the 25th Anniversary of the first USASA Championships.

In the next week, Vear will be devoting his time to training and studying for his midterms.

He will also be playing for the Academy's "Dream Team" in tonight's Harlem Superstars comedy basketball game at the Alumni Memorial Gymnasium. The game is a fundraiser for the senior class, and will start at 6:30.
