Barnet School Board

barnet schoolboardBARNET - The Barnet School board met last night to discuss the educational and financial articles within the town. The tax budget is set to increase and the school is looking to condense it's staff. Barnet will be cutting almost half of it's full time teaching positions for the middle grades.

Louis Bushey, the Barnet School Board Director believes that everything will be fine. "The actual number of teachers in the Barnet School is going down by a half of a full-time equivalent," said Bushey.

There are a few teachers that will be retiring this year, although the school will be searching for new teachers beginning in early March.

"We are looking at a different teaching model that the principal has presented this evening that would have more team teaching," Bushey said. "One teacher teaching math and science and one will teach humanities."

This is just a small portion of items that will come up during town meeting day which occurs on March 4th.
