One Billion Flash Mob Returns

one billion ST. JOHNSBURY- Residents of the Northeast Kingdom will gather in the streets this Friday to dance in the "One Billion Rising For Justice" Campaign. The campaign was started a year ago in an effort to end to violence against women and girls.

Last year one billion people in over two hundred countries rose and danced to demand an end violence against women and girls.

Event organizer Elisa Lucozzi hopes that this will serve as a celebratory protest to end violence world-wide, "You know a couple years ago this community was really rocked by the death of Melissa Jenkins and that's one story amongst many, is what people said to me."

This year the campaign is escalating their efforts and calling every women and men everywhere to rise, release, dance, and demand justice.
The participants of the campaign will dance in an organized flash-mob.

"I think it's really important as a community to come together and say we take a stand against this," Lucozzi said.

The event will take place in front of the St. Johnsbury fire house at 11:50a.m. and again in front of the South Congregational Church at 4p.m. this Friday.
