Getting Reel in the NEK

Get Reel

EAST BURKE- The North East Kingdom Travel and Tourism Association (NEKTTA) is Reaching out to visitors and residents alike for their new marketing campaign. They are looking for video that illustrates what people love about the kingdom.  NEKTTA Director Gloria Bruce believes that potential guests value what other visitors have to say over what a normal marketing campaign might tell them.

"People tend to place a lot of value on first-hand information if we can get a video from someone that was here with their family or hitting kingdom trails and enjoying their time, I think that resonates at a deeper level so we are trying to share their [perspective] with other people that are interested in the region," Bruce explains.

This new campaign is a lot like Jay Peaks’ “Moment” campaign, taking visitors video and pictures and using them to advertise the resort.

Bruce is not only asking for visitors videos, "so [our] Get Reel campaign is an online campaign, its a crowd sourcing campaign. We are looking to get content from the people that work here, live here, and visit here.

Uploading content is fairly easy. If you have a video, all you have to do is go to the Get Reel page of the NEKTTA Webpage. Once there you will see a button that says “submit an entry”. With a little bit of information, like your name and email address, you can submit your video and any comments you want to make on your experience.

What kind of content are they really looking for? Bruce says simply, capture what you love. "What we want is that honest moment of ‘this is what I love about the north east kingdom this is what I do here.’ Its whatever makes this place special to you or anybody else. That’s what we want them to capture, grab a smart phone or a camera, capture thirty seconds of that and share it with us."
