Veterans Going to School

veterans going to schoolLYNDON - Veterans put there life on the line for our country but when they return home it is hard for them to find a job. Many veterans are furthering there education after returning home from service.

Many colleges and universities offer discounts to help our veterans.

 

The associate director for the admissions office at Lyndon State college said "We offer a number of academic benefits that the standard 18 year old freshman wouldn't receive... We'll give the veteran a number of easy routes to adjust into college life" 

When veterans return home some will go out in find a job but others decide that school is a good option. Jason Blodgett a thirteen year Army Veteran said  "I decided I was gonna use my benefits and come to school here.  It seems like the campus and the school is very big on helping out the vets"

Lyndon State College has many benefits such as tuition waivers, not requiring the SAT or ACT, veterans who do not live in Vermont can receive in state tuition, as well as having many scholarships available. 

The Lyndon State College Veterans club has been working to put on an event that will take place on March 9th. They are calling this the veterans summit. At this event they are going to have multiple resources for veterans who are looking to get assistance or even if they are looking to go to college.
