Bag Balm Expansion

BagBalmExpansiontumbnailLYNDONVILLE - In Lyndonville Bag Balm has served the Northeast Kingdom for over one hundred years. Now the company has started the next chapter in it's history, which is to reach the rest of the country. The expansion is because of their new marketing scheme and addition of more products.

Bag Balm, an ointment for skin health, was originally used to keep the udders of cows healthy throughout the cold of winter. Over time, people have used the product for many different things like to help heal their hands after the skin cracks or to keep their lips from getting chapped.

Last year the company was purchased by Vermont's Original, and they have been able to sell the product across of the entire U.S. The head of Vermont's Original, Jim Kelly, says to make a product successful you have to know your product yourself.

"You know, first and foremost, know what you are and who you are as a brand. When you understand that, then I think you want to apply real out of the box thinking about how do you now make this thing bigger than it is today--how do you build it from where it is today." Kelly says.

Bag Balm was founded in 1899. According to their website, the company looks to be heading towards a strong future. You can find out more information about the product at the Bag Balm website at www.bagbalm.com.
