Peacham-A student at Peacham Elementary School held a fundraiser to raise money for the arts and music program in Nicaragua. Willa Kantrowitz, a third grader at the school, goes down to Nicaragua every three years for an opportunity that most students don't get.
"My dad is a doctor down there, and does a (Pediatric) program, and i'm going to School there and i'm doing one of the programs and we're bringing the money we got to the arts and music program," says Kantrowitz.
Katrowitz has been playing music down there for a long time.
"I did recorder lessons I think last time and I painted something," She says "Theres a clay making thing down there, so I like to put molds in clay."
This may be nothing out of the ordinary for Kantrowitz, but for Janice Brisco, a teacher at the school, she think's this small good deed will have a big impact on the people in Nicaragua.
"I think it'll be a big impact, I mean I think her spirit and her generosity will enrich the people who She comes in contact with and I think hopefully they'll be impressed with the effort that She kind of took forward on her own and was excited about and just kind of followed through," says Brisco.
Aside from donating money, Kantrowitz also accepted musical instruments and strings as donations.
Katrowitz leaves for her big trip this week.
