ST. JOHNSBURY- With temperatures predicted to be in the 60's for most of the week, the snow is melting and summer paving plans are coming to the surface. The Vermont Agency of Transportation annouced several road projects that will be occuring throughout the state
. Of those projects, Lyndonville and St. Johnsbury will be affected.
VTrans hopes to begin Wednesday in Lyndonville where they will be paving Depot Street through Main Street. In addition, VTrans plans to begin paving from the post office to the covered bridge on Millers Run Road.
According to Lyndon Municpal Administrator Justin Smith, roadwork may require cutting traffic down to one lane.
"That's certainly something as you get into the village [that] will be difficult," said Smith. "But the end result is a nicely paved road taht is more attractive to those coming into the village."
In St. Johnsbury, several projects are set to begin next week. Those projects include portions of both Route 2 and Route 5.
VTrans plans to pave from Western Avenue to Snell Road,as well as Railroad Street to Pearl Street, and lastly, Main Street to Railroad Street.
Of the concerns, those at VTrans always try to make safety a priority in every project they have.
"Just keep an eye out," said Jay Strong of VTrans. "Everybody's out there working. Just pay attention and keep your head up.
