concord school2CONCORD- Shortly after the school budget did not pass in Concord, 51 residents signed a petition to shut down the high school portion of the Concord School. The school board is schedueld to meet tonight at 6:00pm at the Concord School in the library to discuss the possibility of a shut down.

A new school budget has not been proposed after Concord voters shot down the original budget of $4,760,302 on Town Meeting Day. Of the 243 residents who voted on the budget, 134 of them voted no.

The school has struggled to pass previous proposed bugdets over the course of the last few years. In 2013, the budget passed by one vote, while in 2014, the budget passed by 19 votes.

According to Essex-Caledonia Supervisory Union Superintendent Brian Rayburn, a special vote is tentatively scheduled for late April.  Voters are allowed to express their thoughts and concerns at tonight's special meeting.
