Key to Finding Happiness

finding happinessPEACHAM - Residents from Peacham and neighboring communities gathered at the town’s public library last night to find out what it takes to find happiness. At the library is where residents met a Monk from Nepal, named Gesse Sherab, who gave his presentation on “How to be Happy.”

Sherab explained the presentation gives insight on how to be content even when things are not going as planned.

“How to be Happy discusses changing the mind, the attitude, perspective, and self despite the different circumstances,” said Sherab.

Sherab’s presentation also focused on using past experiences and real world techniques to help better someones’ life.

“My hope is people can learn they do not need material possessions to be happy, as they can find happiness inside,” said Sherab.

Recently, Healthvermont.gov posted a list on “The Top 10 Things to Do Everyday” for a successful, healthy and awesome life.

Some of those things include what Sherab said, such as appreciating what you are thankful for.

Sherab said he hopes people can learn from this experience and realize they can find peace within themselves.

Gesse Sherab has been teaching people how to be happy for years. It started when Sherab went to a Buddhist Monastery in New Mexico in 2001 to teach them. He stayed there for 12 1/2 years until he returned to Nepal, where he became the headmaster of a local school there.
