LYNDONVILLE - With town meeting day just around the corner, Lyndon Rescue is asking the towns they provide with emergency service, for more money. The service has been around since 1972 and serves parts of the Northeast Kingdom as a full time ambulance service.
The service which is primarily publicly funded, has two stations located in Lyndonville and Brighton. The ambulance service is equiped with four ambulances, seven full time member's as well as some part time members.
Director of Operations, Mark Podgwaite, says "Lyndon Rescue always tried in years past to be a good provider. And there may have been times where we didn't raise out appropriation as much as we should have."
Last year, Lyndon Rescue raised their funding to $15.02 per resident. This year they are requesting a raise to $19.57 per resident. The reason for the raise is due to the rising cost of dispatching. The appropriation request is based on the population of the towns the service provides medical attention to.
