This is the ninth year of the program and it has reached 101 schools, impacting over 27,000 of Vermont students.

"It will empower people to make the right choices," said Judy Ross, the Principle of Peachem Elementary. "So they can be healthy people, that they will know where their food is coming from."

Peachem Elementary was given $2,200 for the grant and will be coming up with a plan this coming spring as to how the school will bring in fresh food from local farms. It will also give the students a chance to grow their own food and then enjoy it in their school cafeteria.
