ST. JOHNSBURY- The Northern Community Investment Corporation (NCIC) was formed 40 years ago, and today, they celebrated.
"We have lent well over a hundred million dollars," said Jon Freeman, President of the N-C-I-C. "We have been able to help the smaller businesses from the very small start ups all the way up to the largest manufacturers."
The N-C-I-C has helped over 300 businesses in the past 40 years, including Weidmann Electrical Techonology in St. Johnsbury, Little Dippers Doodle Children's Center in St. Johnsbury, and Xtra Innings Performance in Lyndonville.
According to N-C-I-C's website, "the non-profit corporation provides capital and expertise to strengthen businesses, communities and employment opportunties across our service region."
Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and Congressman Peter Welch were also in attendance.
