Peacham Ice Rink

Peacham Rink ThumbnailPEACHAM- The Peacham Elementary School was recently able to turn their outdoor basketball court into an ice skating rink, thanks to the help of the "Parents, Teachers, and Friends" Organization. By doing so, students at Peacham Elementary are now able to skate during their recess time.

"It's just another way for kids to get out at recess time, as well as on the weekends.  It's a great addition to our community," said Cornelia Hasenfuss, a Peacham Parent.

The rink was built in November for the price of a couple hundred dollars in the form of donations. It was built with materials that allow the rink to be put together and taken apart easily, to be used again in the future.  The Parent, Teacher, and Friends group was also able to find someone to maintain the rink.

There used to be an ice rink at the school in the same spot it is now, but Principal Judy Ross is not sure why it stopped being flooded until this year.

"These parents are an exceptionally dedicated group with young children in the school, and this program can hopefully be used as a future part of school culture," Principal Ross said.

The ice rink has been a popular spot so far, not just during recess, but after school hours as well.  Hopefully, with its popularity among the children and community members, the ice skating rink will be a feature of the school for winters to come.
