NEWPORT- Santa had a run for his money in Newport this year, with over eighty individuals participating in the second annual Santa Run.

Phil White is one of the coordinators for the run, he said "last year a group of us decided to add a little bee to the celebration of Christmas in downtown newport. So we organize a santa run and a Santa parade, and it was a lot of fun so we decided to do it again."

The run is a five kilometer run, that travels through Main Street and Down Town Newport. Participants pay $35 for adults, and $15 for kids, twenty percent of which goes to Toys For Kids. Every participant was also asked to bring at least one unwrap toy to donate to the organization.

     Toys for kids is Vermont a non profit organization that helps give toys to children who may not otherwise have them. The toy drive is operated but the U.S. Marine Corps League and manages to help hundreds of kids through out the state of Vermont have a more joyful Christmas.
