Homes without security systems are up to 300% more likely to be broken into. Vermont State Police agree that having a security system can provide great court evidence. "It's circumstantial evidence, but it's strong circumstantial evidence when you have a facial recognition and that could help prevent it from even going to the level of trial." Sgt. Brain May, from the Vermont State Police said.
The Dropcam, is an easy to use camera that streams live video to your phone from your home or business. The property owner can receive alerts in the palm of their hand. The police are also notified when the device is triggered.
However, according to the Barrett Insurance Agency, even though it is a very simple and less expensive security system, they believe that this may not help the property owner save money.
"While we certainly encourage any means of security, it's not always a guarantee that you're going to save any money." Michael Barrett, from the Barrett Insurance company tells us.
