Burke Announcement to Affect NEK

burke announcementBURKE - A major announcement on the future impact of tourism in the Northeast Kingdom is expected to take place tomorrow at Burke Mountain.

Governor Peter Shumlin, Jay Peak President Bill Stenger, Senators Bernie Sanders and Patrick Leahy are all expected to be in attendance for the event.

Earlier in the day at 10:00 A.M., Jay Peak is holding a press conference where they will update people on one of the largest economic development projects in state history.

At 3:00 P.M., there will be a meet and greet event at the Tamarack Grill at Burke, where an announcement related to Jay Peak's is expected to be made.  Burke Marketing Manager Hannah Collins believes that with the recent acquisition of Burke Mountain by Jay Peak, many new projects, included this announcement, will positively affect tourism and business in the Northeast Kingdom.

"I think it will affect tourism in the Northeast Kingdom in general," said Collins.  "We will probably see some improvements to our mountain.  Hopefully those improvements will lead to job creation."
