VERMONT - Ten states across America have been recognized in a survey conducted by Insure.com. The Green Mountain State was ranked for having some of the rudest folks out on the roads.
The state of Vermont was tied for sixth place, alongside Delaware, for one of the rudest states for drivers.
The website surveyed 2,000 drivers nationwide to find out which states are the most guilty of rude behavior. The survey focused specifically on how residents drive on their highways.
One of the main problems that drivers had with other drivers was talking on cell-phones, as well as tail gaiting, and turning without a signal. However, driving too fast was actually the main problem here in Vermont.
The website states that a 2010 study ranked Vermont as "No. 3 in the nation for speeding tickets issued per capita." They also say "Vermont was one of only two states to register an increase in the number of traffic fatalities between 2005 and 2012. The same study found Vermont ranked No. 1 in the greatest increase in fatalities per distance driven of any state over the same period."
Vermont resident Jessica Eckhardt wasn't too surprised by the ranking.
Eckhardt said, "Everybody is always complaining about people not knowing how to drive... Especially with the weather conditions. Sometimes I get aggravated, on a 50 mile per hour road, it's just like people are going 35 and you're like 'why?' I don't understand."
While some Vermonters may agree that they are one of the rudest states, according to the survey, Idaho took first place as the rudest state for drivers.
