ST. JOHNSBURY - The fairways of the St. Johnsbury Country Club is more than just a business venture for new owners Emily and Rudy Grass. For Emily Grass, the purchase brought her full circle. She grew up in St. Johnsbury and spent a lot of time on the course. Her father served as the club’s superintendent for 26 years. After moving back to Vermont to start a family with her husband Rudy, they were eager to jump at the opportunity to express their vision for the St. Johnsbury Country Club.
“We’re in our 30s, we have experience on the course, and we have deep local connections,” Emily said. “We want to make this a hub for the community again, a gathering spot where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re here to golf or just to enjoy lunch on the deck.”
The couple are focusing on improving the course conditions, restoring the fairways and tea boxes to their original state.
“Whether you feel comfortable enough to play the full course or you just want to hit some balls, the range is here for the community,” Emily added. “We want people to come by and give us a try. Whether you golf or you don’t, there’s always something for everybody here.”
The family just had their grand opening day last Saturday, and it was packed with many regular golfers all afternoon.
