nek development ST. JOHNSBURY - Little Dippers Doodle was in St. Johnsbury before moving from Burke.

Little Dippers Doodle is a childcare facility that is located in Saint Johnsbury and has been in business since 1997.

Just a few years ago owner Kari Anne Scott noticed they were outgrowing their original location, "In west Burke and it was also called Little Dippers Doodle at that time, serving 50 children and now we serve 150 children."

For the business to move they needed financial assistance from the northern community investment corporation, says Scott. "The first loan was to help finish off the construction of the building, another loan was to supply awesome equipment outside on the playground and the third loan was to help increase the interior environment for optimal learning for example the ceiling tiles."

The northern community investment corporation talks with 15 to 20 individuals each year that are interested in starting a business where about half of those open their doors.

When asked about past start-up business failures, president of the investment corporation Jon Freeman did not answer but he did discuss the state of the economy, "New businesses seems to me to be down in recent years and the struggling economy seems to have held people back."

Scott said the Little Dippers Doodle Daycare will not stop from expanding their store. "there's always ideas, always news ideas, but everything is of course in the strategic planning stages" and Freeman says you have to keep looking forward "Regardless of anything else you have to make today better than yesterday and tomorrow better than today bad economy or not you have to do it."
