Milne in Lyndonville

milneLYNDONVILLE - Republican gubernatorial hopeful Scott Milne was in Lyndonville today, answering questions about his campaign platform and race against incumbent Democrat Peter Shumlin.

To begin the meeting, Milne briefly introduced himself and then took questions from the Lyndonville Rotary Club members about a number of topics which include the controversial Vermont Health Connect to the EB-5 Program.

The latest polls for the race have shown Milne slowly catching up to Shumlin, closing in from twelve to ten points between the two. Although it's been over fifty years since an incumbent lost to a newcomer in the gubernatorial race, Milne is confident that he will be able to catch up and win the race come November.

"My job is to talk to enough people, meet enough people, and convince them that I'm honest and intelligent enough to do the job. That I'll surround myself to get the job done for Vermont. So I'm optimistic that twelve points down, ten points down… we'll be down five points as we get into October and then hopefully we'll be atlas two points up on election day," said Milne.

Although he is running on the Republican ticket, Milne considers himself more of a moderate and one willing to reach across the aisle to get things done.

"There's some really big problems in Vermont, there's some really tough things that need to get done over the next two years. I'm optimistic I'll be able to reach across the aisle and give the democrats enough cover so they can join me in an effort to make Vermont a better place," he said.
