kennametalLYNDONVILLE- The Kennametal plant in Lyndonville sent out a statement earlier this week confirming the decision of closing the facility for good on June 30, 2014.

Kennametal currently employs about 80 workers and soon, those 80 skilled workers will be without a job. The statement went on to say that the plant will "work closely with the Local 5518 and government officials to make necessary resources available."

The Department of Labor is one of those resources that will be working with the employees of Kennametal. The department will be working through their Rapid Response Program in order to help those workers find new opportunities and will be available for unemployed in mid April.

The program will provide them with a four step training service and sessions for both men and women to help assist them when putting together a job search plan.

The department will give sessions about resume writing, tips for job searching, and a survey. The survey's main purpose is to help the department understand the specific needs of each individual.

Cindy Robillard, Department of Labor, feels as though this program will help the employees at Kennametal back on their feet. "I'm optimistic that these individuals, if taken advantage of the services and engage activity in their re-employment, that they will definitely be re-employed."
