warmth for winterLYNDONVILLE- Old Man Winter is making his presence felt here in the North East Kingdom as colder temperatures and snow are starting to become a regular everyday thing. Colder temperatures mean that it is time to bundle up and Rural Edge in Lyndonville is making sure that families in need have a way to stay warm this winter.

Hats, mittens, and scarves are being collected via donation by Rural Edge as apart of their Warmth For Winter collection. The donated items collected will be given to local families and seniors who are in need this winter.

"We're going to make people's lives a lot better and a lot warmer. It's Vermont, it gets cold, and you shouldn't have to, like I said, choose between do i eat today, or do I buy mittens. Does my kid have mittens, do I have mittens. That sort of thing," said Rachael Morrow of Rural Edge.

The donated items can be new, used, or even a homemade item. Rural Edge has set the goal of 500 donated pieces of winter wear, and in the past two weeks the community has contributed to half of the amount. Items that people which to donate can be dropped off at several local businesses. North Country Credit Union, The Pizza Man, and Fortitude Fitness Systems are collecting donations.
