veteranLYNDON - Lyndon State College is now allowing veterans to enroll in school under the Vermont State Tuition process and many are taking advantage."I think Lyndon is actually leading the way on some of the things that are happening, matter of fact, providing in state tuition for out of state veterans that choose to attend this college. That's incredible, that is something we are working on at a national level" says Michael Dakduk who's part of the students Veterans of America. The meeting was able to provide information about the organization and what it means for the college's community. "It's to bring veterans and their families and service organizations together" said Lyndon professor Tom Anderson adding "to build relationships, stronger connections and enhance regional support."

In the group of supporters were Peter Welch and State Senator Bernie Sanders are behind the tuition process "we have a real tragedy in this county" said Sanders "we are losing about twenty- two veteran's a day as a result of suicide. We are working on that as well, it's just unacceptable."

Congressman Welch believes veterans receiving a college education is not only good for the veterans, but for the community as well saying "veterans have immense responsibility when they're in Iraq and Afghanistan and those skills they want to put them to work for the benefit of the community."

Many other colleges on a National level have opened doors to veterans and now Lyndon can be added to the list.
