LI v HARTFORDLYNDON - The puck dropped at 6pm last night at Fenton Chester Arena when the Lyndon Institute Vikings hosted the Hartford Hurricanes. The Vikings were looking for their first win of the season. However, Hartford had plans of their own.

The Hurricanes scored the game's first goal in just 22 seconds. Lyndon followed up with a high sticking penalty, and things continued to go Hartford's way. Hartford was able to put up another goal halfway through the period, and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Lyndon managed just one shot on goal. Viking Senior Jake Solomon received a game-misconduct penalty at the end of the first period for checking from behind, and thus was not allowed to return to the contest.

Hartford was able to grab another first-minute goal to start the second period, while Lyndon continued to dig their own grave with penalties. Hartford scored another three goals in the next seven minutes, before taking their first line off the ice for the rest of the game.
Hartford was able to net two more goals, and posted their first shutout of the season as they defeated Lyndon Institute 8-0. Hartford Junior Brandon Gardner was the game's leading scorer, with a goal and three assists.

Gardner spoke after the game about the win improving the team's stance in the playoff picture. Hartford Coach Todd Bebeau was also happy to improve the team's current playoff seeding, saying "our goal is to finish up strong. You know, hopefully get a first round playoff game. Like I said, it doesn't matter who we're playing, you know, each game is an oppurtunity to improve on those goals."

Lyndon Institute's next game is scheduled for 8pm Saturday night at Milton High School.
