LYNDONVILLE- Traffic at the polls this moring was not too heavy for village meeting day in Lyndonville. Doors opened at 10am and along with elections for some of the town offices, a proposed $2.75 million dollar bond vote also sits on the ballot.

 

 

According to the Village Clerk and Treasurer Dawn Dwyer, there were only four votes casted in the first four hours of the polls being open. Three of those only being walk-ins, the fourth was an absentee ballot.  

Dwyer commented on this mornings unusually low turnout and said, "It is what it is. [The voters] are aware of it, we've posted the warnings, we've posted it on our website. We've done everything according to state statutes, it's been in the newspaper. So other than knocking on doors, and trying to get some interest, we've done everything that we can. Now it's their turn to come in and vote." When asked about the statistic of low turnout in the morning however, she said that the mornings are typically slower than the evenings are for village meeting day.

Dwyer also noted that she does expect there to be a bump in turnout with the meeting that immediately follows the closure of the polls which is at 7 o'clock this evening.
