HOPE FOSTER CARELYNDONVILLE- One local business in Lyndonville gives a helping hand to children and families in need, year round. May is Foster Awareness month and H.O.P.E is doing all they can to make sure children have the proper attire needed.

H.O.P.E gives out voucher tickets to foster care families. These tickets allow children between the ages infant and eighteen to pick out clothing for all dress occasions.

Maria HillBarnes, an associate at H.O.P.E says, “we get donations from everywhere and it really means a lot to us a charitable organization to be able to help these families in need.”

The voucher tickets range anywhere from $20 to $30 which is five dollars more than last years.

“Our clothing can range anywhere from one dollar and up so this amount of money really can go a long ways when shopping here,” says HillBarnes.

In order to qualify for a ticket, a family member must speak to an employee and fill out a brief form indicating that they are fostering children or an adoptive parent.

“It really doesn’t take a lot, we are so willing to help out that we make it as quick and easy as possible for families to qualify and get a ticket. We want to make sure children have the proper attire for playing or school or whatever they need to be dressed for.”

H.O.P.E offers these tickets year round and the State of Vermont is currently working on programs that will raise awareness and help those children in need.
