Carry it in, Carry it Out

Lyndon TrashLYNDON- 15 trash cans from around the sidewalks of Lyndonville will stay in winter storage due to the new recycling law that has been put into effect. The law states that for every trash can there must be a recycling bin beside it.

The town is not keeping the bins in storage for financial reasons but rather to keep the town’s and public's areas natural beauty in tact.

Currently the towns has about 15 waste bins around Depot Street, Bandstand Park, and Veterans Park…this would mean a total of 30 waste bins through-out these areas. Dawn Dwyer, Lyndonville’s Town Clerk, says that all those bins would “definitely take away from the aesthetics of the town.”

This new town tactic will be put into effect on a trial period until May. It will force the public to carry out whatever they carry into these areas. If too much pollution occurs the town will reconsider putting out some of their trash bins.

The new recycling law will be put into full effect on July 1st.
